The astonishing goal… the Juve fans’ applause… Zidane’s disbelief… this is one of football’s greatest ever moments.

Ronaldo delivered two goals, including a sensational bicycle kick that even brought Juventus supporters to their feet, in a 3-0 Real Madrid rout in the first leg of the quarterfinals in Turin. Marcelo tallied the third for Real Madrid, which came after Paulo Dybala was sent off, leaving Juventus shorthanded for its comeback attempt in the second leg.

Ronaldo, who scored two goals in that final last season, burned Juventus once again early on Tuesday. He stabbed home a goal in the third minute off a perfect cross from Isco, scoring for a record 10th straight match in the Champions League to give Real Madrid a crucial away goal and a 1-0 lead.

Ronaldo has 25 goals in his last 14 games for club and country. He has scored in every Champions League tie this season to lead the field for the competition’s Golden Boot with 14. Something seems to stir inside of him when the aria plays. Juventus were broken.

Paulo Dybala, their great hope, was sent off for a high boot on Carvajal, having previously been booked for diving and, when Ronaldo ushered in Marcelo for Real’s third, it was all over. Juventus have won the previous four two-legged ties against Real, going back to 1996, but they need a miracle to progress. After the loss to Real in last season’s final in Cardiff, this was another bitter pill.

Paulo Dybala dives in the penalty area, drawing a yellow card from the referee before he was later sent off for a second booking.

Keeps getting worse for Juventus, down 2-0 to RealMadrid and now down to 10 men. Dybala gets sent off for a high foot on Carvajal.
